Flower Festival, a traditional event marking the start of spring and the tourist season, is celebrating its 48th edition this year. This international event has grown into a craft fair that brings together producers, creators, and flower enthusiasts.
🌺Program at the Riva and Fruit Square: Visitors will be able to enjoy the sale of flowers and seedlings from producers in the Banovina region, lasting 15 days and covering three weekends. Fruit Square will feature a promotion of old crafts.
🌺Program at Diocletian's Cellars: On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of musicians Ivo Tijardović and Jakov Gotovac, the event will be thematically linked to their legacy, especially the operetta Mala Floramye. Along with the flower exhibition, the program includes craft activities such as a fashion show, a hairdressing show, and a hospitality-tourism event called “At the Emperor’s Table.”
🌸Official opening of the event will be on March 20 at 12:00 PM at Diocletian's Cellars, when the flower exhibition will also begin.🌸
As part of the Flower Festival, the renovated Botanical Garden on Marjan, managed by the Public Institution for the Management of Park Forest Marjan, will be opened. The garden will focus on education about Mediterranean biodiversity and the preservation of natural heritage. In cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Split Craftsmen Association, an educational workshop on LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus for the control of the invasive species tree of heaven will be held. On March 22, the Ministry will also have a stand at the Riva with information about the removal of the tree of heaven and protection against invasive species.
