9. 12., 20:00, Ivo Tijardović Concert Hall, Croatian Home Split
Remembered as the composer who untangled the Gordian knot of overwrought, chromatic harmony of late Romanticism, ending classical harmony and introducing dodecaphony, Arnold Schönberg according to some, he is a savior, and according to others, an executor at a turning point in musical history. His radically new ideas found numerous admirers, who interpreted them in their own way and at their own speed, heading down the multi-lane autostrada of 20th century music. Although the era of radical atonality and dodecaphonic and serial music remained in the 20th century, many of Schönberg's valuable pieces have remained in the repertoire, from the early composition for string sextet A transformed night, to monodrama Expectation, a play Pierrot Lunaire, unfinished operas Moses and Aaron, to late works such as cantata Survivors from Warsaw and many others.
