2. 12., 20:00, Ivo Tijardović Concert Hall, Croatian Home Split
Mandolina Croata is the name of the project of the City Mandolin Society Sanctus Domnio from Split, which occupies the primary aspect of the activity of this Society. It was started in 2009 with the aim of unifying compositions by contemporary Croatian authors originally composed for mandolin orchestras in the program of the Mandolina Croata concert cycle.
It includes musical works by domestic, world-renowned authors such as Vlado Sunko, Marin Katunarić, Gordan Tudor, Tomislav Kalebić, Ivan Božičević, Pavle Sviličić, Bruno Matijašević, who dedicated quite a number of compositions and first performances specifically to the mandolin orchestra Sanctus Domnio, as well as Croatian authors such as Boris Papandopoulo, Luka Sorkočević, Josip Hatze, Ivo Tijardović and others, whose works are gladly accepted and are often part of the repertoire of this orchestra.
The goal of Mandolina Croata is to intrigue as many young people as possible and introduce them to the Croatian musical alphabet, to stimulate musical creativity in the field of contemporary music for mandolin and mandolin orchestras, and to encourage interested composers and musicians to try their hand at composing for mandolin and mandolin orchestra, focusing on the general interest for cultural development.
